Trip #6 - Prospect Lake

Thought we better take it a little easy this week, so tried a nice smallish lake (72 hectares) and it turned out just right.

Mark fell out of his van on a rainy day last week while holding onto an interior shelf - aka - he fell out but his hand and arm didn't - so his shoulder popped out for a sec, so we thought we better take it easy this week.

The weather really cooperated too - it has been overcast and rainy most of the week, but around the time we wanted to leave for our kayaking today, it cleared up and there wasn't a cloud in the sky for hours and hours.

I'd say 99.9% of Prospect lake is accessible only to home owners on the Lake... but there is a very small park at one end with maybe 50 feet of beach, which was caged off with maybe a 1.5 foot high fence.  There was a sign on it that said it would come down in July after the Canadian Geese had flown south.  It's September now, so not sure what YEAR July they had in mind for taking it down - didn't indicate year.

In any case, it was not a problem to step over it and launch or to land back afterwards, so what looked like a deterrent really wasn't.

The lake is very private, so there wasn't much going on out there, just a couple boats zooming around and some guys water skiing, an older couple in a canoe showed up after a while and some girls in a row boat, but that was it for the entire lake.

There's a couple small islands in the lake too, which looked like fun to land on, but so far, we haven't bothered to try something like that yet at any of the lakes we've been on so far that have small islands in them.

So a nice easy paddle on a lovely sunny day that anyone should be able to complete in 1-2 hours.
