Trip #2

As planned, we launched at the same point as our maiden voyage, near the little white school house where Admiral crosses The Gorge.  But this time we turned right and headed north into Portage Inlet to check out the scenery up there.  Turned out to be a sizeable area that took 3+ hours to explore.  As expected, Trip/Week #2 kayaking muscles were complaining pretty loudly the whole time - just a matter of working through the period where muscles are getting stronger despite being used.  As long as good technique is being used, elbows and wrists should be just fine.

One and two days after our maiden voyage, my back/neck hurt quite a bit but following Trip #2 they don't, so that is a good sign, the arm muscles should follow suit any week now.  We did, however, forget to use sun screen this week, and all I can say about that is that we're both pretty sure that won't be happening again!  We're both a nice toasty brown color now though, or will be as soon as all the red parts cool off.

We made adjustments to our backrests this week that worked out great, the Portage Inlet was pretty much left to us... on launch we saw a couple sea kayakers take off down The Gorge towards the Inner Harbour (I assume because they returned when we did)... so, saw them again when we returned, but other than that, only saw one row boat or something on Portage Inlet.  It was a beautiful and sunny day, perfect for being on the water - and you'd think more people would be there, but apparently the scenic beauty on the water up in this area is taken for granted by the locals after a while because while we saw a lot of canoes on our trip, they were all overturned on docks along the way.
