Sound Files

One of the most enjoyable features of mIRC is the ability to share sound files. If someone plays a sound that you HAVE downloaded onto your computer, then you hear it at the same time they do (lag not withstanding) To do this type /sound filename.wav (example: /sound page.wav)

To hear a few sounds that are popular in #25+friends, click on the sound names/descriptions. To download the ones you want, click your player and SAVE or right-click on link, and SAVE AS or SAVE TARGET AS into your c:\mirc\sounds folder. To download all the sound files at once, in a 962kb zip file, click here. If you need WinZip click here.

NOTE: If you can't hear some of the sounds, you probably don't have the latest codec. Ask someone to help you with getting a more up-to-date codec if you can't figure it out.  Then you'll be able to hear the compressed wav files as well as make them yourself.

P O P U P S

If you're new to mIRC you're probably overwhelmed with the functionality of your chat program and by things like colorful popups that others seem to have so many of, when all you can find is a lame one about slapping someone with a fish. It's not so hard to have a selection of popups, just follow the 4 easy steps to get a starter set of popups and you will be on your way.

Step
1

Locate the POPUPS tab in your mIRC program icon menu bar.

Step 2:

Make sure under VIEW that NICKNAME is checked. It's very important to check this so you don't load your nickname list popups into some other catagory.

Step 3:

Download nestpops.zip and unzip it to your c:\mirc folder.
If you need an unzip program click here to get it.

Step 4:

Go back to the POPUPS tab, as seen in Step 1 and click FILE/LOAD and locate your nestpops.ini file in the C:\MIRC folder and load it.

Now you are ready to click on a nick in the channel nick list and then right-click to access your new popups menu. ENJOY and have fun!
